There is no doubt that Medicaid expansion is going to change and save lives in Missouri. One population that will benefit in particular are new moms. Without Medicaid expansion new moms could expect to lose Medicaid coverage just 60 days postpartum. This left women without access to critical and comprehensive postpartum follow-up care. Without healthcare coverage new moms did not have the security of knowing they had access to a doctor so they could be healthy parents. It is such a relief knowing that thousands of Missouri women won’t lose that coverage now. I am so thankful to all the advocates and citizens who never gave up to ensure that our friends and neighbors across the state will be able to access health coverage in Missouri.
